Find people and send direct messages

To write to individuals and create a 1:1 chat, click the “+” to the right of the “People” category:

To find a person, click the search field and start entering their first name, last name and patronymic, login for the personal account, or email address. As you type, a list of search results will appear.

People who already have a UCMeetChat account can also be found by their Matrix name (@your-login:matrix.ucmeet.chat).

Please wait 5 seconds after each character you enter until the search results are displayed. People who have not yet signed in to UCMeetChat can only be found by their UCMeet-format login or email address. The “Show more” button will display additional search results. Please also pay attention to which server the user you are looking for is displayed on, such as ucmeet.chat, ucmeet.org, or another server.

Pasting clipboard content into the user search only works for email addresses, not for logins or usernames!

To find people, please enter the characters manually, one by one, and wait 5 seconds for the results to appear.

Or you can use the automatically generated link from our ucmatrix.org redirect server, for example https://ucmatrix.org/#/@you_login:matrix.ucmeet.chat, send it to your recipient, and communicate with them in our UCMeetChat.

For bulk invitations of participants, up to 100 people at a time and then repeatable, email addresses or Matrix names are required (@1_login:matrix.ucmeet). Collect them, for example, in a text editor, copy them line by line to the clipboard, and then paste them into the search field in UCMeetChat.

If a person cannot be found, ask them for the login issued by the administrator, or share your UCMeetChat username (@you_login:matrix.ucmeet) so that the recipient can contact you.

Please note that UCMeet does not send an invitation email!

Also note that Matrix accounts for logging in with the UCMeetChat function may not be verified.

Now back to the topic of “direct messages”:

After entering the contact person's name in the search field, a list of search results will appear. Click the person you want to contact, and then click “Go”.

The dialog opens and can begin after the invited user accepts the invitation in encrypted form, which is currently the standard. The connection to the UCMeetChat server is, of course, also encrypted during transmission. If end-to-end encryption is undesirable for any special reason, create an unencrypted room and invite the participants there.

Next: message formatting

A room with a single user is also possible. It can be used as a clipboard/notebook and for checking that formatting and hyperlinks work correctly.
